Popularly known as ചിരട്ട കരി (Chiratta Kari) in Malayalam, it is used in water tanks for water purification.
Activated carbon
Also called activated charcoal, it is extremely porous and this feature helps in the filtration of drinking water.
Lime
Used as an alternative to water softeners, it removes iron and manganese from the water. It also prevents the formation of limescale deposits on bathroom walls and fittings.
